Switzerland To Return MIND-BLOWING Abacha Loot To Nigeria

The Swiss Government has said it will return the sum of 321 million dollar looted by late and former Military President General Sani Abacha.

This was disclosed by Eric Mayoraz, the Switzerland ambassador to Nigeria after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters in Abuja on Friday.

He said: “The Abacha loot is a very active dossier that we are dealing with now. We have repatriated 722 million dollars in 2005 to Nigeria and we are now in the process of repatriating 321 million dollars from the second batch of Abacha funds that we have collected.

“Today, the signing of the MoU is for the future cases so it will allow better cooperation. It will reduce time for the process of transmitting the legal requests from Nigeria to Switzerland and vice versa because MoU we signed is not only for looted assets, it is for all criminal matters”.

Earlier in his comments, the envoy said that the signing was aimed at fostering understanding of the legal systems and improving the judicial cooperation of both parties.

He added that the signing of the MoU formalised the commitments of both countries to fighting international crime.

“There is a common ground; this is now a legal tool. If we will each do our share of the work, we will reach our goal; it will in the future be harder to profit from corruption and I am very proud of that”.

Ronaldo, Bale, Griezmann On UEFA Best Player Shortlist

Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale headlined a 10-man shortlist announced on Monday for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award.
Ronaldo struck the winning spot-kick as Real claimed an 11th Champions League title, beating city rivals Atletico Madrid on penalty kicks in May, before leading his country to Euro 2016 glory.

Fellow Portugal and Real teammate Pepe also featured on the shortlist, along with Wales star Bale.

The former Tottenham Hotspurs star had steered his country to the semi-finals of the European Championship in their first appearance at a major final since 1958.

Ronaldo is favoured to the win the award for a second time, after scooping the honours in 2013-14, which would see him draw level with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann was also nominated after his six goals in Euro 2016 earned him the Player of the Tournament and the Golden Boot.

Unfortunately, France fell short against Portugal in the final match.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Messi is one of two FC Barcelona players to make the list along with Luis Suarez.

The Bayern Munich duo of Manuel Neuer and Thomas Mueller, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and Real midfielder Toni Kroos are also included.

NAN reports that the players were selected by journalists from each of UEFA’s 55 member-associations who will vote for a second time on Aug. 5 to determine the three finalists.

The winner of the award will be announced in Monaco on Aug. 25 when the draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage is made.(NAN)

Ladies, Are You Still Single? These are 5 Reasons Why You Have Not Found Your Man Yet

Are you spending most of your weekends alone, but you don’t want to be? Then it’s time to do a little self-exploration.

Either you’re just really bad at picking dates or there’s a reason why no one wants to be around you.

Let’s take a look at five ways you’re sabotaging your relationships.

1. You’re indifferent

Staying cool, calm, and collected might work for a job interview, but it doesn’t cut it in the dating world. If you genuinely like someone, say it. Don’t hide your feelings in an effort to look like you have it all together or to avoid the risk of looking like a fool.

Smile and show that you are enjoying your date’s company. Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there.

Just being your awkward, funny self can be the most attractive thing. If you miss your date, say so.

If you’re looking forward to spending time together again, share that. Letting someone know you care is enough to make their heart melt.

2. You don’t take care of yourself

Grooming — whether or not you’re going on a date — is a must. And when you are on a date, being well groomed has even more of an impact.Make an effort to style yourself not only so that you can look attractive but also so that you can feel good about yourself.

Make your date look good. There’s no shame in wanting people to be just a little jealous of your date because you’re looking like a major hottie.

Look your best at all times. That means you should pay attention to the small details like your nails, hair, and accessories.

Going the extra mile when it comes to your appearance shows that you care.

When you look sloppy, it sends the message that you are not invested in either yourself or the relationship.

3. You’re mean

It’s never OK to be rude. Don’t forget common courtesy, like saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’
Also remember to be polite to those who serve you. Just because someone is holding your door or bringing a meal to your table does not give you the right to release vitriol whenever you please.

Think before you speak, and don’t forget to add a little bit of patience and kindness. A little niceness can go a long way.

If you insist on being mean and consistently turn a blind eye to the needs of others, it’s pretty much guaranteed that you will spend a lot of time alone.

4. You’re following outdated rules

There’s the three-date rule, the 24-hour rule, the three month rule, and on it goes. Stop living by crazy rules and start enjoying your life.

All of this rule following will just leave you frustrated and involved in a highly superficial relationship. Be yourself and let nature take its course.

5. You’re picky

There are no perfect people. If you’re waiting for the next best thing to come along, you’ll be waiting for a very, very long time.

Accept that there will be some flaws you’ll just have to deal with. Only you can decide what’s tolerable, but don’t be extreme once you do make a decision.

If you don’t have any plans to settle down and get married, then be picky.
But if you want to eventually tie the knot, you’ll have to stop looking so hard for what’s bad in others and start looking more at yourself and your reasons for magnifying everyone else’s shortcomings. You might be the problem.

The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, announced the holiday in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

FRSC to commence enforcement of speed-limiting devices on commercial vehicles, trucks

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi, on Friday said the agency had concluded plans to commence enforcement of speed-limiting devices in commercial vehicles, including articulated trucks and lorries.
Mr. Oyeyemi said a recent decision by the House of Representatives to lift a moratorium on the enforcement of the speed-limiting devices also helped the commission in its decision.

The House had in June gave the FRSC the green light to commence enforcement of the devices in vehicles.
The House also urged the FRSC to explore other speed-limiting technologies with a view to adopting them.
Mr. Oyeyemi made the announcement when he briefed reporters in his office at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja on Friday morning.

“Following the submission of the committee’s report and its debate at the plenary of the house, the recommendation for the lifting of the suspension order was adopted and the house has accordingly lifted the suspension order on the enforcement of the device,” he said.
“Consequently, the corps is coming up with a new date for the commencement of the enforcement on the compulsory use of the device as soon as consultation with relevant stakeholders is completed.”

Mr. Oyeyemi said adherence to the use of speed-limiting devices would help reduce crashes on Nigeria roads, adding that the measure had yielded significant positive results in countries where it had been adopted in recent years.
Mr. Oyeyemi, however, said the agency was still working out the frameworks on the implementation of the devices on other passenger vehicles.
As Nigerians travel around the country for the Ramadan holiday, Mr. Oyeyemi said he had deployed a total of 31,000 road safety officials on Nigerian roads, including about 15,000 special corps officers, as part of efforts to ensure an accident-free holiday journeys for all Nigerians.
The patrol, tagged by the commission as ‘Operation Ed-el-Fitri’, would hold daily from July 3rd through 10th.
Mr. Oyeyemi also expressed his gratitude to Nigerian motorists for their strict compliance with road safety regulations, saying the perennial campaign of his agency had started yielding results.
